We continue our six-film tribute to Director of the Month Tim Burton with his visually breathtaking Gothic film Sleepy Hollow.
Skeptical police inspector Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is sent to Sleepy Hollow, New York, to investigate a string of murders. He thinks he’ll be able to solve the murders through conventional means, but as he encounters trees that secrete blood, flaming pumpkin heads, and a headless horseman, he realizes that the supernatural is far more real than he ever imagined.
Featuring Hammer horror veterans Christopher Lee and Michael Gough—and nominated for three Academy Awards and three BAFTA Awards—Sleepy Hollow is fitting tribute to the classic horror films of the ’50s and ’60s.

“It is a horror film, but it’s a Tim Burton horror film. Make no mistake about that.” – Ken Hanke, Mountain Xpress
“Sleepy Hollow is, above all, beautiful to look at. Instead of using effects to make things look real, Burton makes everything look like a painting.” – Jeffry Overstreet, Looking Closer
“A spooky gothic horror tale with first-rate production design.” – James Rocchi, Netflix
